Microsoft HoloLens 2 Instinctual Interactions

Microsoft HoloLens 2 Direct Manipulation Visuals

HoloLens 2 Instinctual Interactions

HoloLens 2 opened up a new world of exciting interactions. Direct manipulation with your hands. Grab, rotate, and inspect holograms as you naturally would in the real world. This is all done locally on device through Deep Neural Networks on-board the HoloLens 2. It truly is one step closer to a “Tony Stark” moment in technology with an untethered device. This innovation truly needed a visual approach that helped celebrate the magical powers that direct manipulation enables for the user. The on-board capture capability of HoloLens 2 doesn’t do visual justice for this new experiential interaction.

The goal: To capture and communicate the experiential magic of instinctual interactions for HoloLens 2. From the visual queues of proximity glows to the far-field capabilities to manipulate holograms from a distance. The approach was to start close to celebrate the fine detail of HoloLens 2’s hand recognition technology, then step back to show the full interaction. From the fine details to the payoff.
